Ingredients:
300 ml (1¼ cups) warm water
2 tsp sugar
10 g (2 tsp) instant yeast
360 g (3 cups) flour
1 tsp salt
30 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
Method:
Make the dough: Combine the yeast with the warm water and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer and allow to stand for 5 minutes until foamy. Add the remaining ingredients then knead with the dough hook attachment for a few minutes until the dough is soft, pliable and just ever-so-slightly tacky. If the dough is too sticky, add a few more tablespoons of flour and knead in.
Allow to rise: Cover the dough with a damp tea towel then allow to rise in a warm spot for an hour or until doubled in size.
Form the bread rolls: Tip the dough onto a floured surface then divide into 8 equal pieces. Press each dough ball into a rough rectangle then roll into a tight roll. Line your air fryer basket with a piece of parchment paper then add the rolls and allow to proof for another 30 minutes. Brush with egg wash right before baking.
Bake: Place the basket into the air fryer then "air fry" at 170°C/340°F for 15-20 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped. Remove from the air fryer and allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
