Who can resist a crispy, succulent steak pie. And thanks to the Vortex Air Fryer, these take less than 20 mins!
1 kg steak cubed for pie
1 red pepper chopped
1 tablespoon sour cream
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon mayo
1/2 onion diced fine
1 teaspoon green chillies
1 tablespoon ginger and garlic paste
1 teaspoon crushed red chillies
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon salt
Readymade puff pastry
1. In a pot on medium high heat add in your onions and oil. Cook until translucent, then add in your ginger and garlic paste, mix for a few seconds before adding in steak. Add steak to pot with Worcestershire, green chillies, chilli flakes and vinegar. Reduce heat. Allow to cook down until all water released dries up. If steak is still tough add in a little more water and cook until dried up.
2. In a blender or using a blending stick blend the following: red pepper, sour cream, tomato paste, salt and 1/2 cup of water. Blend until smooth.
3. Add this mixture to your steak, cook until excess liquid reduces. I use a blending stick and roughly blend the steak at the end, this is completely optional.
4. Fill your pastry with filling, fold over and seal with water. Brush with a beaten egg and add sesame seeds.
5. Whilst you are brushing pies put your air fryer on to 200 degrees Celsius for a few minutes (bake function). Add your pies to the basket. Drop temperature to 160 degrees Celsius allow pies to bake for 10 minutes, then turn up to 200 degrees and bake for another 5-7 minutes until puffed up and crispy.
6. Serve immediately.
