A sloppy joe is a sandwich consisting of ground beef or pork, onions, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and other seasonings, served on a hamburger bun. The dish originated in the United States during the early 20th century.
Making Sloppy Joes, thanks to Instant Pot is a stress-free experience. No stirring, no checking on the sauce, no mess. Simply Pressure Cook the meat for 15 minutes while you sit back or prep the sides you’d like to serve, @savorynothings likes to have pickles, chips and coleslaw with her Sloppy Joes. You can also make extra and freeze for another meal.
1 tablespoon oil
1 onion chopped
1 small green bell pepper chopped
1kg lean ground beef
2 cloves garlic minced
2 tbsp light brown sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp ground paprika
3/4 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
salt & pepper to taste .
To Serve:
Toasted buns, coleslaw, pickles, cheese…
Set the Instant Pot to Sauté. Add the oil and cook the onion and bell pepper until softened, about 2 minutes. Add the beef and garlic and cook until browned.
Stir in all remaining ingredients (except for the buns and toppings!). Close the lid and set the valve to Sealing.
Select Pressure Cook on the High Pressure setting for 5 minutes. Once the cooking time is up, do a Quick Pressure Release. Serve over toasted buns with your favourite toppings.
