“Crispy Perfection: South African Nik Naks Sweet Chilli Chicken - A Flavor Explosion in the Instant Vortex Air Fryer'!
Ingredients:
500g chicken breasts cut in strips, seasoned in salt and pepper)
135g Nik Naks (I used the sweet chilli flavour)
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
3/4 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp parika
1 tsp oregano
Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer
Method:
In a food processor, (or you can use a rolling to pin to give it a good bash like I did) pulse the Nik Naks until they are crushed, resembling breadcrumbs. Transfer them to a shallow bowl.
Place the flour, milk, eggs, seasonings and a tsp of salt in another shallow bowl and give a good whisk to form a batter. Take each chicken strip and dip it into the batter, coating it evenly. Shake off any excess batter.
Next, dip the chicken strip in the crushed Nik Naks, pressing them onto the chicken to make sure they adhere well. Place the coated chicken strips on a plate or tray.
Arrange the coated chicken strips in a single layer in the Vortex air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching each other. Cook the chicken strips in the air fryer for 20-25 minutes at 200°, flipping them halfway through the cooking time, or until they are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 70°C. Once done, remove the chicken strips from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
Serve your Nik Naks air fryer chicken strips with your favorite dipping sauce, I used Mrs. Balls Chutney.
Enjoy your crunchy and flavorful chicken strips made with Nik Naks in the Instant Vortex Air Fryer!
